Kaspar Bonnén: Reliques From Inhabited Spaces
March 15–April 16, 2025
Opening: Saturday, March 15, 1:00 PM–3:00 PM
Charlotte Fogh Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition, Reliques From Inhabited Spaces, by Kaspar Bonnén, which shows the artist’s latest paintings.
Bonnén’s paintings revolve around space, architecture and interiors and have always had a personal starting point, often centered around places he has lived from childhood to the present.
About his works, Kaspar Bonnén says:
“I have always said that my paintings are about space. About being in several spaces at once. About telling the stories of space. And that the stories of space tell something about us. My works are an attempt to tell that we are in a complex world, that the many pieces of information and spaces that we orient ourselves to make us ecstatic, but can also overpower us.”
“The title of the exhibition, “Relics from inhabited spaces”, thus points to another time, to the many places I have lived. How spaces and objects themselves become physical entities that are both created and broken down. Relics are something treasured that is brought out by time and has a spiritual side, as a connection to the world…”
In the new paintings, the complex spaces and motifs are put together more freely, like an organic and colorful carpet and more physically sensory. But also with the spaces as the overarching theme where the artist has lived, and larger spaces in which we find ourselves.
Kaspar Bonnen (b. 1968) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1999. Bonnén has had solo exhibitions at, among others, Kunstforeningen GL. STRAND, J.F. Willumsens Museum, Kunstmuseum Brandts, ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum and Moderna Museet in Sweden.
